Gateway's Little Big Splash Show, Prodigy Disc Airpark Open & The Little Debbie Disc Golf Course Recap - Apr 27th, 2015
Its been a busy couple weeks to say the least. A few weeks back the Big Splash Open was supposed to be held in Carthage. Do to weather/flooding it was relocated to Neosho. The move was a good decision. The Morse Park North course was in prime condition. The weather was perfect and the turn- out was amazing despite the late change in venue. With 17 groups of 4 and one five-some the course was full with 73 players. Having 20 more players than last year was Awesome! Gateway supplied a very cool and different players pack. Each player received one of their new discs, a catch Frisbee, and stash mini. The players seemed to enjoy the change from the standard shirt and disc. Thanks Gateway! Winners included the following:
Chris Clemmons -15 held off Dasun Keyler by two in the Open Division
Audrey Goetz +3 cruised to an easy win in the Women's Open Division
Mike Porter took home his first Advanced win with a -11 holding off Chris Smith by a stick (-10)
Kevin Carder's +1 took Advanced Masters by a few
Josh Drehr took Intermediate with an impressive -3 holding off Chris Cleland by only two
Logan huff shot a +3 cruising to a 1st place victory over Craig Goldsberry
Congratulations to the above and to all that cashed!
The following week, we scrambled to finish up the baskets and signs to deliver to Gentry, Arkansas. 9 Red Barron colored Monkey Traps were delivered and installed to the Little Debbie Snack Cakes plant. Although it is on their private land, it appears thus far to be open to the public. This is a fun 9 hole course that offers a great mix of holes. Short, long, and elevation are all elements that add a great challenge to this course. This 9 hole course comes less than a year after another 9 hole was installed just 20 minutes south in Gravette, Arkansas, So if you are near these towns, take an hour and play these new courses.
The Prodigy Disc Airpark Open was held this past Saturday. A remarkable 88 players turned out despite the “Doom & Gloom” forecast. This first event in Eldon was a B tier in which 9 temp holes were added to make it a full 18. The course proved to be quite challenging letting only 10 players shoot under par. All 10 of these were Pro players. The weather was full of changes: partly cloudy/sunny, wind/calm, with rain off and on through out made it extra challenging trying to stay comfortable. I feel many players were pleasantly surprised by the course. Great work Jeremy Anderson. Winners included the following:
Open: Jason Stone -6 over George Smith -4
Pro Masters: Russ Burns -2 over Keith Ammerson's -1
Advanced: Andrew Griffith +3 over Justin Ausmus by 2
Advanced Masters: George Smith +8 by one over Kenneth Squires
Intermediate: Kieren DiSclafani +5 over Will Wards +6
Recreational: Timothy Fisher +5 (MOVE UP)
Recreational Women: Mariah Flagg +27 over Heather Flow by one
Great Job to all of you!
I hope to see most of you at the GBO, and get registered for the North Ark Open. Being a Vibram Qualifier should make this event better than ever!!
