The 6th Annual Winter Blast - Benefiting Freedoms Rest is this Saturday - Dec 15th, 2016
The 6th Annual Winter Blast is this Saturday. For the last 5 years we have met at Ozark's Grubaugh Park to have a fun, yet semi competitive tournament that benefits the Christian County Family Crisis Center (a women's shelter referred to often as "Freedom's Rest"). This year Chantal Chase is the new Director and has done an amazing job getting the facility in the best shape it has ever been. She is very excited about our event, and hope to partner more with them next year on the Disc Golf Monkey Tour.
Each year both the attendance and the support have improved. This is an exiting time as it is just al little before Christmas and is a perfect time to give back. Freedom's rest can use all kinds of things from household cleaning supplies, canned food, clothing, and everything in between. Of course money is always a great help, and we try to do raise as much as possible by selling mulligans and having a raffle. This year we have a basket, free pair of Keen shoes, back pack bag, discs and much more. If anyone has anything to add to the raffle please just bring what you have and set it on the raffle table or give to me. It can be anonymous or you/business can be recognized.
One of the cool things we do at this event is what we refer to as the Turkey Trott. We give hams and turkeys away to players in a contest. We also give one of each as needed for Freedoms Rest. The contest this year will give each player one free chance (throw) at a CTP to win one their choice of a pig or a bird. Players may acquire more chances by getting 3 birdies in a row (a Turkey) during the rounds. Each turkey gets a bonus throw. I am hoping that people will be generous and share their winnings of more than one each with others as they have in the past.
I hope to see as many of you as possible in Ozark for this year's TRUE Winter Blast!
