The 14th Winter Blast is Coming Up Soon and We Need Your Help Disc Golf Family!

For the past 13 years the Winter Blast tournament has been a chance for the tour to give back in a big way. Twelve years in a row we helped Freedom’s Rest Women’s & Children’s Shelter, but they have since closed their doors. It is very important that we share generosity and kindness to children and families, and we have been given the opportunity to help for a second year with the Burrell Children’s Day Treatment (CDT). The CDT is a treatment program that helps children ages 3-6 who are often delayed, neglected, abused, or a combination of all. Most of the kids in this program have little to no social skills, and for this reason are unable to attend pre-school. The staff teaches the children to play, work together, and display positive social skills. The staff leads by example demonstrating an amazing amount of patience, positive reinforcement, compassion, encouragement, and loving skills that have often never been shown to these children.

Burrell’s CDT has had many success stories through the year’s. As many of you may remember from last year, my wife is the director of CDT, and she has been a part of the program for 24 years. She has a very special gift of heart to do what she does, and I am amazed she has been able to continue year after year. If you have met her, or have ever seen her interact with children, you know how gifted she is with kids. I’m blessed to have her in my life, and I know she is a blessing to each and every kiddo and family she has worked with.

We will be doing the same things we have done in the past which is donating a small part of the entry fee, having a raffle, and asking for donations to help provide things needed to keep the CDT program going strong.

Crayola art supplies
12x18 construction paper
24 and 48 piece table puzzles
Treasure Box toys, stickers
Books (easy read)

We hope this will make things easier for those who want to contribute and may not be able to make it to the tournament, or for those who simply like shopping from the comforts of their own home.

My hope for this event is together we can pool our generosity and kindness to provide as much support as possible to the children and the families helped by the CDT. If you are able to do any one or multiples of the following please let me know:

4. Find potential sponsors
5. Sign up to bring Turkeys & Hams for the Turkey Trott
6. Bring a little extra money for the raffle.
